Statement Of Intent

 Statement of intent:

When creating my poster billboards, I will carefully consider and take into account the ASA guidelines to ensure I don't cause harm to members of the public. I will ensure no graphic images will be used as I am aware that they will be displayed at a bus stop which young children will see. This means being aware of violent, graphic and sexual behavior which should not be aired. However, the images that I use and photographs I will take still ensure it targets my primary target audience of those aged between 16-25 and I will do this by using models of that age. Due to the rule 4.1 Harm and Offence, I will guarantee my posters don't cause wide stream offence and cause harm to different groups.  Due to the genre of my poster and meeting the Thriller brief, the series will be aired after the watershed being after 9pm, to ensure younger audiences are less likely to be exposed to non-age-appropriate themes.

My posters will introduce the audience to two of the main characters.  Neither being represented positively or negatively. Due to the genre being a thriller, the characters' personalities remain unknown with their facial expressions highlighting this.  There is no clear binary opposition between the two main characters as the images will be edited in black and white leaving a mysterious atmosphere around the poster.  The character being represented negatively remains anonymous so no gender, class, ethnicity is being portrayed negatively, they are concealed in the shadows.

To engage my target audience of those aged between 16-25 I will use models of that age so they are similar, and the audience could maybe relate or identify with one of the characters. Two strong female characters can be found on my posters going against Laura Mulvey's Male Gaze Theory and therefore encourage a young female audience as females are being positively represented I will use white bold typography when displaying the title to make it eye-catching and stand out, additionally when looking and researching into other thriller posters this color and font was used to contrast the mysterious, often darker colour palette. Following this I will use a darker colour scheme with the locations set at dusk as darkness has connotations of mystery and evilness. The same tagline will be featured on each poster to create a saying which the series Thriller will be known by, therefore linking the posters together. Themes of mystery and suspense will be captured within the images encouraging the thrill-seeking audience to want to watch.
